If you would like to arrange for a school party to visit the synagogue please could you download the form on this web site and e-mail it back to RebeccaLissak@hotmail.com. We do not have visits on a monday or a tuesday following a bank holiday. Wednesday is a preferred day of the week for synagogue visits. Please give us plenty of notice so that we can find a volunteer to host your visit.
In the past groups of secondary and primary school children have visited us. Small groups doing GCSE Religion seem to have found it particularly useful.
Although the building is modest we can give a brief overview of Liberal Judaism and show the young people our Torah Scrolls. It is also a good opportunity for them to ask questions.
We ask for a 'donation' of £25 per group.
The synagogue is difficult to find
and there is a map on this web site that can be downloaded.

Recipe for Challah
This is a lovely Challah bread which several school parties have enjoyed while
visiting the synagogue. As we are often asked for the recipe - here it is.
7 cups of plain white flour
2 packets of Allinsons Dried Yeast
I heaped tablespoon of sugar
4 teaspoons of salt
Mix together dry ingredients thoroughly then in a well in the centre of dry
ingredients add;
1/2 cup of sunflower or similiar oil
3 eggs - beaten up
2 cups warm water.
Stir and fold into a dough ball then knead on floured board till elastic.
Remember purpose of kneading is to get air into dough.
Leave either overnight in fridge to bake next morning or for about 2 hours
in a warm place.
When its doubled in size , plait, paint with beaten egg, sprinkle with poppy
seeds and bake for 40 minutes gas mark 6 .
Good eating
